Key terms used across Vintrhall and this documentation.

Warehouse structure

TermMeaning
WarehouseA physical location where stock is stored. Vintrhall supports multiple warehouses.
RackA shelving unit within a warehouse, identified by a code.
Level / ShelfA horizontal tier of a rack.
SectionA subdivision of a level that groups bins.
BinThe smallest storage location, holding a handful of SKUs (typically 5–8). It is the single source of truth for an item's physical location.
Big binA larger overflow location (e.g. the I/J zone) for bulk items.

Products & stock

TermMeaning
SKUStock Keeping Unit — a unique code identifying a product in your catalog.
EANThe barcode number on a product, used to identify items when scanning.
Stock levelThe quantity of a product available in a warehouse.
Source of truthVintrhall holds the authoritative stock and bin location; integrations mirror it, not the other way around.
INBOXA staging location where imported stock lands before it is put away into bins.

Operations

TermMeaning
Put-awayMoving received stock from staging (INBOX) onto racks and bins.
PickingCollecting products for orders during a scan session.
RelocationMoving a product from one bin to another (browse a brand, move it to a different rack).
Cycle countingCounting one bin at a time and comparing it with the quantity source. Produces a discrepancy report, never changes stock levels.
Full inventoryCounting the whole warehouse (or part of it) bin by bin in a round. Closing a bin overwrites its contents in Vintrhall; the quantity source is not changed.
Product locationsA scanning mode for confirming and fixing shelf locations of products and placing new stock.
DispatchLogging parcels handed to a courier or sent to a hub.
Scan processA configured scanning workflow with buckets that map order statuses to physical actions.

Order sourceAn integration that provides orders to process (e.g. Base).
Stock sourceAn integration Vintrhall reads stock from (e.g. wFirma, vintrconnect).
